JUNIORS
Court Usage
On Saturday mornings six courts are reserved exclusively for use by Junior members until 11.00am, five courts from 11.00am to 1.00pm and two courts from 1.00pm to 2.00pm. Courts may be booked using the booking sheets inside the clubhouse.
Junior members are NOT entitled to book courts at the weekend (except during their designated court allocation or for inter-club matches), nor after 6.00pm Monday to Friday. Junior members may nevertheless play on unbooked courts during these times, but must give way immediately to Full or Student members if required.
Juniors are only permitted to play with other members of TLTC and therefore not allowed to bring non-members to the Club.
Tennis Clothing
Junior members must wear recognised tennis clothing whilst on court (i.e. no football shirts or jeans). White tennis trainers should also be worn. Tennis trainers are specifically designed for tennis movements, whereas other footwear is designed for movements associated with other sports. Incorrect footwear on a tennis court can damage the court and/or result in an injury; for example, twisted ankles can easily occur when wearing running shoes whilst playing tennis.
Coaching for Juniors
The Club has a comprehensive coaching programme under the direction of our Head Coach, Anthony Mills. For full coaching information please refer to page 19.
Tennis Balls
Tennis balls are freely available for Junior play – Juniors are asked to use balls from the tins by the peg board and NOT the balls from the court nets.
Tournaments/Match Play
The Annual Junior Tournament is run over the summer months with the finals being played over Finals Weekend (first weekend in September).
A singles ladder operates during the winter season and proves to be very popular. Juniors also represent the Club in National Junior Club League teams during both the summer and winter months. U14 boys and girls enter the national Road to Wimbledon Tournament, with the winner representing the Club at the County Finals.
Social Events
Social tournaments include the '2-Generation' in the summer and the Christmas Tournament in December. Details of these events will be found on the Junior notice board inside the clubhouse. Several BBQs are held specifically for Junior members, as well as Christmas and Summer parties if supportive parents/volunteers can be found.
Juniors - If you would like to have social events you must co-opt parental help.
Parents - If you are willing to help in any way with social functions for the Junior section please speak to Katrina Ledderboge-Vucinic.
